Keyboard Shortcuts in Tot
Tot is very keyboard centric and has many keyboard shortcuts. You may not like all of them, but luckily they're easy to change using System Preferences!
One common request is to change "Select Previous Dot" and "Select Next Dot" to use the same shortcuts as Safari. To do this, open System Preferences and navigate to Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts. In this panel, you can click the + button to add a new shortcut override:
Application: Tot
Menu Title: Select Previous Dot
Shortcut: ⌃⇧⇥
After pressing Add, Tot will show the previous dot when you use the Tab key with Control and Shift keys. You can enter multiple shortcuts, so do another one for selecting the next dot:
Application: Tot
Menu Title: Select Next Dot
Shortcut: ⌃⇥
This can be extended for other use cases. Tot uses Cmd-0 to select an empty dot for use. You might want to remap that to Cmd-N so that it works like a opening a new document:
Application: Tot
Menu Title: Select Empty Dot
Shortcut: ⌘N
Entering shortcuts for submenus is a little trickier but can be helpful for things like the Sharing menu:
Application: Tot
Menu Title: File->Share->Mail
Shortcut: ⇧⌘M
Now you can quickly share any dot (or selection within a dot) using Mail by holding down the Shift, Command, and M keys.
