Automatic Backups on macOS

Tot on your Mac makes backups automatically every hour while it's running. These backups are stored safely and securely on your Mac and contain the same information as iCloud.

Unfortunately, iCloud can have issues (especially during macOS upgrades) or you can accidentally delete more than you expected. If this happens, you can restore one of the automatic backups.

Use the File > Show Automatic Backups… menu item to get a list of your changes over the past few days. Each file is JSON text that can be viewed in a text editor and restored using File > Restore Backup…

We recommend that you always leave Tot running so it can backup any changes you make on another Mac, an iPhone, or an iPad (the feature isn't available on iOS).
