Importing Journals from Paper by WeTransfer

Linea Sketch supports the ability to import drawings created in WeTransfer's venerable sketching app Paper. Once imported into Linea a layered file is created and can be edited easily.

Import from Paper Premium

The quickest and easiest way to import Paper journals uses iCloud Drive and for that, you'll need to be subscribed to Paper Pro, the premium service that automatically backs up your Paper drawings to iCloud.

To import your Paper journals follow these steps:

  1. Launch Linea Sketch on your iOS device

  2. Open the project you wish to import the files into and tap the More Actions icon (...) > Import Files...

  3. Navigate to Locations > iCloud Drive > Paper

  4. Find the Journal with the drawings you want to import and select the file(s)

  5. Tap "Open"

Linea will create a new sketch for each drawing you selected.

Import Files

If you don't subscribe to Paper Premium you can still import your drawings but the process requires both your iOS device and Mac to be physically connected. Once that is done follow these steps:

  1. Open a Finder window on your Mac and use the sidebar to navigate to your device (listed under "Locations").

  2. Select "Files" in the top navigation bar. A list of apps will be displayed.

  3. Find the "Paper" app and flip open its disclosure triangle to reveal the sketchbooks. Pick the ones you want and drag them to another Finder folder which is connected to the Files app on iOS (for example, iCloud Drive or Dropbox). If you want to recover backups of your ".page" files, they can be copied into the folder, too.

  4. On your iOS device, launch Linea Sketch.

  5. Open the project you wish to import the files into and tap the More Actions icon (...) > Import Files...

  6. Navigate to the folder you selected in step 3.

  7. Find the Journal with the drawings you want to import and select the file(s)

  8. Tap "Open"
