Resetting Icons After Upgrading Your OS

I changed some of my icons with Candybar and then upgraded my computers operating system. How do I revert to the old ones?

With OS 10.9 Mavericks, we're no longer updating Candybar's support for system icons. If you changed your icons in 10.8 and then upgraded to 10.9, this can lead to some icons being stuck in their changed state. While it won't work for all system icons, there is a solution for reverting most of your changes:

  1. Select the item you wish to remove changes from
  2. Open up the item's info pane (keyboard shortcut is command - i)
  3. Select the items icon in the info pane and "cut" it out by hitting command-x

If there are system icons you can't change back using this method, then the only other solution is to back up your important documents and reinstall your operating system from scratch.
