I am having an issue with Twitterrific on my Mac not displaying all tweets. I keep it open almost all the time, but when I look at my Twitter feed on the website, I see that I have missed a series of tweets. Any idea why this happens?

MacBook Pro (Mid 2010)
Lion
Latest version of free Twitterrific

Thanks,
Robert

    Robert,

Exactly what versions of Mac OS and Twitterrific are you running? And do you find anything the missing tweets have in common?

    Thanks,

    Hi Robert

Where in the timeline are your missing tweets? Can you give me a few more details?

    Sorry, here is what happens.

Occasionally, I will check my timeline and see a tweet that is marked as being part of a conversation between two people that I follow. But, I will only have one of the replies. If I ask Twitterriffic to show me the whole conversation, it loads all of it, including tweets from people I follow. Those other tweets never appear in the timeline. If I log on to the Twitter website, it does show the entire conversation.

Oh, and since the last email, I updated to 10.7.3, and the problem still occurs.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Robert,

Have you updated Twitterrific lately? It's at version 4.4.6 now. Try that first and let me know if you see the same behavior.

I updated and it happened just now. I saw a tweet that was 32 minutes old and was marked as being in a conversation with a person I follow. I asked Twitteriffic to show me the conversation, and it showed me a tweet from the other person that I follow that was three hours old. If I look at my timeline, there is no tweet that age displayed. In the conversation window, the time for the second message was marked in gold, showing that I hadn't seen the tweet before. I hit refresh on the main window, and that previously unseen tweet did not appear in the main timeline.

    Robert,

Can you tell me if you see anything specific the missing tweets have in common? Are they all from the same user, or have any sort of odd characters in them, or include a specific hashtag or anything? We're trying to track this down on our side and I'm looking for anything in particular that could be causing it. Any tips you can give me (including your twitter name and a link to a tweet that's missing, if possible) will help a lot.

    Thanks!
    -Kelly

    Kelly,

I am noticing something that the missing tweets seem to have in
common. It seems I am not seeing tweets from the people I follow when
they are replies to people I don't follow. Here is a scenario.

Non-followed person tweets to Followed A and Followed B. Tweet is not seen.
    Followed A replies. Not seen.
    Followed B replies. Not seen.
Followed A replies to Followed B. Seen.

I have done some more digging and this may be a Twitter issue and not
a Twitterriffic issue. I'll let you know if the problem fixes itself
or if I find missing tweets that don't follow this scenario.

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Robert,

This is precisely a twitter issue and is working as Twitter designed it actually. Any time a tweet is an @reply to someone you're not following you will not see it even if it contains usernames of those you do follow. I think this is to help keep load down on twitter's end but also to keep conversations out of your timeline that you may not be interested in.

    hope this helps.
