xScope SmartTools don't work with iOS Simulator

I'm following the instructions and choosing the tools by the menu instead of the toolbar. It seems to work for Xcode and Keynote, but whenever the iOS Simulator is the foreground app I can't get SmartTools to keep my selected tools active. If I switch away from the simulator and then back all tools are gone.

    Hello,

Can you tell me more about the setup you're using? What Mac, what version of iOS Simulator, Mac OS, and xScope do you have running?

    Thanks,

I was using a pre-release version, but the issue happens in the 5.1 public release of the iPhone Simulator too [Version 5.1 (272.21)]

I'm running on a Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.3 using xScope 3.1.1.

One more question: Are you seeing this consistently? Is it only if you've had your machine running awhile, or only on Tuesdays, or just pretty much every time you switch? Does it happen if xScope and the Simulator are the only apps running?

Also, which Mac Pro? In case we try to duplicate here, I want to see if we can match your setup as close as possible.

It seems to always happen. I've had to end up turning SmartTools off if I want to use the Loupe in the simulator since that is the only way I can seem to get it to stick onscreen.

    I'm running a MacPro4,1:

Is there a 'defaults write" I can enable to turn on more logging about the SmartTools logic? If not, I could run a debug build with extra logging enabled. Since I can easily reproduce it on my machine that would be an option if you can't actually make it happen there.

I seem to have made it work by disabling "Activating a tool brings xScope to front". There must be some interaction with that feature. As long as it is off, the simulator seems to retain my selected tools when I switch away band back to the app.
